Student Ambassadors - Chancellor For A Day

Please look for this program again in the fall of 2008.

This program is a university-wide canned food drive to show our support for local issues in the High Country and to give back to the surrounding community.  All of the cans donated will go directly to the local Hunger Coalition, benefiting families in Watauga, Avery, and Ashe counties. This past fall the Appalachian Ambassadors raised 5,153 cans to help hunger in the High Country.

The Chancellor For A Day program provides a student with the unique opportunity to switch places with Chancellor Peacock for a day to experience the life of a university administrator while Dr. Peacock attends the selected student’s classes for a day.  While this is considered the top prize, the Ambassadors also offer other items to students who participate, such as gift certificates to restaurants and businesses in the local area.

How do I become eligible to be the Chancellor For A Day or win the other prizes?

For every can you donate, you will be entered into a drawing for the opportunity to become the Chancellor For A Day. For example, if you donate 10 cans, you will have 10 entries in the raffle from which the winners will be drawn.  Typically the Ambassadors have contact tables in the Student Union and Trivette Hall during the collection times.

We would appreciate your participation in this program and any donations that you would be willing to contribute to the fight against hunger in the High Country.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Appalachian Ambassador Office at (828) 262-2542 or e-mail us at ambassadors@appstate.edu.
